fake ipod shuffle followup
#1
I posted recently about a fake iPod shuffle that I had received. I charged it up and inserted a micro sd card. It showed up on the desktop just fine so I copied over some mp3 music and it plays them just fine. There is a slight hissing sound when no music is playing but it is not noticeable otherwise. The player accepted a 16gb card so it will hold a lot of music. The only downside is it won't play aac files so anything I've purchased from the iTunes store (even without drm) won't play. I would say it is a "fair" deal since it only cost me $10 for the memory card. It is going into my mom's work vehicle tomorrow and then I will get some feedback on how long the battery lasts.

I found another oddity. If I place the mp3 files into folders, labeled by artist, it will only play music from the first folder (alphabetical). I couldn't find a way to make it jump to another folder. So I used PathFinder to add the artist name to the beginning of each mp3 file so the music can all be at the same level but I know what is what in case mom wants me to remove some music by artist.

Also, as far as I can tell it does not "shuffle" the music at all. It just plays one song right after the last in alphabetical order.

I've been doing some research on this since your posting. Most of these sold at Amazon are under $10 and don't do anything more than play a specific playlist, in alphabetical order.

Some will let you have different folders, so that's a way to split up playlists, etc.

So your mom will say "That Macklemore was on the View and he used a bad word. Take every Macklemore song off your cheap mp3 player right now... and never listen to him again!"?!?

My mother enjoys hymn music so I loaded it with various artists singing that style. I thought it might get repetitive though. That's why I added the artist name to each song so I could easily remove whatever she doesn't like.

Oh, it's your MOM's ipod! I assumed you were having to delete music from YOUR iPod if your mom didn't like it!

Did I get that right?
