$39.99 for MS Office 2013 (download)
#1
If you are a college student, staff or faculty you could get a download version of MSO 2013 for a mere $39.99 at collegebuys.org provided that your college participate in this discount program. I had a few questions so I tried to log onto their Chat Live! I had to wait for 30 minutes before I could get someone. Then in the middle of a chat I was put on hold. This is definitely a new one for me ... placed on hold on chat?!!

When they first announced this program for MS Office for students, the license sold with it was listed as expiring in 4 years. Is that still the case? Would be a pain in the neck for any student who falls into the growing percentage that take more than 4 years to complete a degree.

Where I work, we're part of the Microsoft Home Use Program. We can get Office for $9.99.

Students: Your college is extending to you the right to use the Software on a personally-owned computer or an institution-owned computer designated for your exclusive use. You do not own the license or the CDs, rather you are authorized to use the Software and associated media pursuant to the terms and conditions of the license(s) granted to your college for the term of your college?s Enrollment for Education Solutions. You will be required to remove the Software from your personal machine immediately upon the earlier of (a) any event, with the exception of graduation, which causes you no longer to be a student of the institution or (b) expiration of the Enrollment for Education Solutions licensed period.

If you graduate during the Enrollment for Education Solutions term, the Software license will convert to a perpetual license (meaning you own the Software) as verified in your Student License Confirmation, which may be obtained from the Foundation for California Community Colleges at that time. The Student License Confirmation is proof of Software ownership.

The license provides that you may only order one copy of each program; you are, however, allowed to order on copy of a NEW revision or versions upon its release.

Extended Access: Upgrade the item in your order from Basic Access to Extended Access. The Extended Access Guarantee provides you with 24 months of access to your download(s) and/or your Product Key for just a small fee. This is ideal if you buy a new computer or your computer has issues and you need to re-download your software.
Note: This can only be purchased at the time of your software purchase.

Depends on the discount vendors. MS store only offers the cloudy 365 version to student/staff.

Right now, the youngest has Pages and LibreOffice.

The oldest got along fine with the latter until some Prof *required* Excel for (chem) lab work. To the best of my knowledge, they did nothing that Libre could not handle.
