Watch Lot Find: Lord Elgin
#1
I've switched from buying watches to selling them (not my collection, but finds on eBay and flea markets and so on).

I bought a large lot of watches a couple of weeks ago and among them was this jewel. It was just too nice to sell!

I cleaned the years of crud off it, replaced the crystal, had the movement cleaned, oiled, and adjusted, and added a NOS 1960s bracelet to it.

The dial is like new and the stainless steel case buffed out nicely. I really like this 1960s center expansion band with alligator inserts as it matches the personality of the watch.

If you sell from that lot, PM me some photos or a list.

unfortunately, the rest were parts only. I made a modest sum selling about 20 watches for parts/repair, but this was the only decent one in the box.

The crystal was scratched and crown and stem were loose, which probably led the seller to toss it in the box.

I'll pm you when I get some nicer ones to sell.

thanks. i'm a lower-end guy, so nothing to fancy-schmancy.

i also prefer simple over some of those explorer-type designs.
