Maybe good, maybe not, and a new kid on the block...

We've had a warm Winter which is appreciated after the two coldest Winters on record and while it's been nice, problems can occur with that. Such as in 2012 when we had temps in the 80s in March and trees and plants were blooming. Then the weather went back to normal and the fruit crops were lost in MI. The cherry industry took a huge hit.
So it's been warm here and you can see some trees starting the process but I hope we've gotten back to normal in time as we're predicted to have temps back in the 20s and 30s. But here's a pic of our crocus blooming about 2-3 weeks early. Shot it yesterday before the low 20s of last night:



We also have a new visitor to the ranch. We have the ubiquitous Eastern Grey squirrels and Red squirrels in our area but there are black squirrels, too. I remember them being on the east side of the Detroit area and far western burbs and have been absent here. Till today:



We'll see if it hangs around...

And a female House Finch watching her Old Man chowing on some sunflower seed. Shot this thru a window too so the quality isn't the best.




The juncos are still here but I expect them to head North soon. Also the cardinals are singing and robins too. But I don't want Spring to hit too soon. Our weeping cherry is showing hints of budding but I think the back-to-average temps will put the skids on that.
Remember, Spring starts at 12:30 AM EDT on Sunday morning.

It's been close to zero here the last few nights, but otherwise it feels pretty spring-like. I can't call it spring until I hear the first sandhill crane calls, though.

We just have the normal grey/brownish ones, not even the red ones.

Cute ! The black squirrel colony at Kent state is very large and the squirrels are fat and very sassy.

a good cappuccino should almost feel like there's nothing in the cup when you pick it up. i always compliment my partners when they make a particularly good one as i appreciate their technique.

I'm not a coffee drinker, but it's nice to know that there's art in this, and not just levers that anybody can pull.
