You might want to try a standing/sitting desk, so you don't have to go right from that to sitting again. You'd be able to stand for a little bit (cool down, so to speak) before sitting.

Interesting, wowser. For a minute it seemed like a possible answer. But upon reading further and then looking back at my original post, I may have been unclear. The discomfort is not behind the kneecap; it's in the back of the leg. I mentioned the knee more as a location on the leg, as opposed to the calf or thigh area.

Jeez, I got a little sidetracked when I started looking for google images of "back of leg".
Anyway, yeah there can be a little stiffness in both legs, but I'm more aware of the left one. The feeling is not unlike what I might experience when standing up after squatting for a period of time. While normally, that discomfort would go away completely and fairly quickly upon standing, now it lingers. It's not really impacting mobility, but it's more of an annoyance at this point.
In the picture, it's pretty much where the lines cross the teal colored section between the L3 and the Axiel Lines.

There's a saying about back problems. It's stupid, but i like it:
Most problems resolve in 3 days, 3 weeks, or 3 months.
Maybe your spine is or isn't part of this picture, but if it was me I'd just "muscle through" and stay as active as possible and hope this is one of those things your body can take care of on its own. But that's coming from someone who can't imagine a day without pain....

Yep. I'm going to start by easing up on the stairs for a week or so and see if it improves.
As another saying goes, "It sucks getting old...but it beats the alternative."
