Linux is not Windows
#1
With a determination (some might call it foolishness) I set out to breath some more life into a couple of laptops from the XP Pro generation. 3 days later, 2 laptops are up and running Linux Mint. Surely ya fool, I have gotten more Linux smart from reading so much about Linux Mint/Ubuntu How-To, tricks and tips, especially error messages :emoticon-animal-022: I am not in anyway abandoning Windows and Mac OS completely due to work and school related projects; outside those environments, I am using Linux Mint more and more. I am finding out trouble-shooting via terminal is actually quicker and fun!
For any one who has not an iota of Linux knowledge but tired of dealing with Windows and curious enough to consider stepping over from the dark side, I would start with Linux Mint https://sites.google.com/site/easylinuxt...amon-first to a T.

I need to dig into Ubuntu some more. I've worked with it a bit, but have gotten distracted the last couple weeks, what with Scrounging Season and all.

I got a couple of HP Compaq nx9030 Business Notebooks with 2 GB of DDR 2700 RAM and 40 GB IDE HDD running on Linux Mint 17.1 LTS (Xfce). They are good for basic tasks, i.e. email. net-surfing, chat, etc. The dual-booting machines (4GB and 250 GB+ HDD) have Linux Mint 17.3 (Cinammon) along side of Windows 7 Pro. So far so good Confusedmiley-music039:

CloudReady S/W will not work on all the laptops that are currently running Linux Mint.
