"LONDON (AP) — Terry Jones, one of the founding members of comedy troupe Monty Python, has been diagnosed with dementia.

In a statement released by Britain's film academy, a representative says the 74-year-old has primary progressive aphasia, which erodes the ability to use language. As a result, Jones can no longer give interviews."

Dammit. All that brilliance, fading away...

Aphasia is often accidentally humorous. My own personal brain injury produces aphasia at moments... I find myself unable to find even the simplest words sometimes. Asked what I wanted for breakfast, I found myself saying "Unborn Avians ! Sauteed and combined energetically with bovine mammary secretions and a bit of sodium chloride ! "

My wife looked at me in horror, and my youngest son explained "He said scrambled eggs with salt."
