You get set up with an agent or company direct, and then get a specific dollar amount when you decide on the exact vehicle. I think if you are already set up, you can get a proof of insurance card e-mailed to you immediately if you make the first months premium on the spot with a credit card. Just call up whoever and say, for example, you are interested in a 2015 Toyota Prius. What would the rates be?

Remember, auto insurance IS NOT a lifetime commitment. You can change it later on.

Besides getting auto insurance, invest in a AAA membership. We have the Plus which gives you a larger amount of miles you can be towed before paying per mile. And it has been used since we have older cars. I love their maps.
