Strong magnets on Amazon
#1
I need some fridge magnets and I was looking for something more like 3/4 inch or 18 mm diameter, but I ended up buying a kit if various sizes.

Anyway, in my search I came across some magnets that claim hundreds or thousands of pounds

1000 lb: https://www.amazon.com/Neodymium-counter...07FQ9B388/

400 lb: https://www.amazon.com/Fishing-Holding-N...07FZZJL56/

and if that was not enough: 3600 lb: https://www.amazon.com/Combined-Pulling-...07JLJQ7NN/

and another one, 500 lb, one review says OK, the other one says weak, more like 50 lb: https://www.amazon.com/Neodymium-Strengt...07JFWQPMX/

Still, these must be pretty strong.

If they stick to something like a car or boat, how do you take them apart?

How does amazon ship these? I would imagine they would stick to a truck or something and the UPS/USPS delivery person would have some interesting situation to deal with.

Or maybe they come in a large box so they are far away from the edge of the box? OK that may solve the transportation issues, but still I can't understand how you unstick this from a large object.

A 1/4-inch rare earth magnet is probably more than enough for anything you'd hang off the fridge door. They'd probably ship in a tube or bag stuck in a small box labeled to indicate that a potentially hazardous magnet is inside.

I have some roughly the diameter of a quarter and about 3x as thick that are strong enough to leave a deep bruise and maybe draw some blood if they smack together and your hand is in the wrong place. They came with ceramic jackets to keep them from smacking hard enough to shatter.

A large rare earth magnet -- about the size of a child's fist -- is strong enough to easily break your bones should it "snap" to a piece of metal or another magnet. Do not even think about buying one of those 1,000 pound magnets if you have no training on the safe handling of one.

The big ones are shipped as hazardous material in cardboard boxes or wooden crates with large plastic or ceramic caps on the magnet to cushion it and prevent it from shattering when it decides to smash something. The caps and other devices are often shaped to keep the magnet several inches away from the edges of the shipping box or crate to limit opportunities for mayhem. The strength of the draw tapers off more quickly than you might think, so the boxes don't have to be really huge unless the magnets are huge. For huge magnets, they have specially constructed steel cages that moderate the effects.

Look no further- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01K70O2HO

These are plenty strong enough for many sheets of paper.

We even use on them on wall corners (with the metal corner bead) to hang decorations and holiday cards.
