That's the only downside for me.

Since Apple offers battery replacement in other devices, I'd sure like to see them give a discount to return customers.

But I don't see that happening as most BT headphones/earbuds have non-replaceable batteries and I've never seen such an offer. There are plenty that are cheap enough there's little though given to replacing them.
