dropped calls
#1
how often do you get dropped calls on your iPhone?

we have iPhone SE iOS 12.4.1 with Xfinity Mobile (Verizon network) and sometimes we get dropped calls, both on Cell and WiFi. Once every call was dropped and I had to restart iPhone to fix it. Now about 1:5 calls is dropped. If this is a call with family/friend no big deal I call right back, but when it is a call with someone else it is annoying. The good thing is usually happens early in the call, like 1-2 seconds so you don't waste time on hold with the doctor or whoever you are calling.

Space,

More of them lately. Not sure why. I travel in same areas, so either something happening with AT&T's service, something is a little wonky with my 6S or a combination of the two. Prior to recently, minimal issues with dropped calls.

AT&T here.

Real calls not so much.

Most of the spam/robo calls are dropped as soon as I answer.

Verizon here. I’ll sometimes call a Deathstar customer and they can’t hear me. Try the call again and it’s OK. There’s some basic software glitch one of them has there.

Similarly, I don’t feel as if dropped calls are the fault of any phone unless there’s a hardware antenna problem.

My annoyance has to do with the continued worthlessness of less-than-great cell tower usage, for data. If I’m down to “3G” reception, it’s as good as zero. Same with “1X LTE” (which, I suppose is one step better than 3G?). Just cut off data and say there’s no reception. Don’t tease me with 3G or whatever else the carrier is no longer really supporting.

AT&T here. I'd say rarely. I don't answer if I don't know the number, but even then I only get a couple of spam/telemarketer calls a week.

Google Fi (really Tmobile). I can't recall the last dropped call I had on my 6s.

ATT and SE here too... none in recent memory. I call from Nor Cal to all over the USA, from Palm Beach to Seattle to Ypsilanti to Dallas to San Jose.

Happens more than occasionally between a friend in FL (iPhone X) and my iPhone8+. We're both on Verizon. We have NO idea why it happens. :dunno:

Except Robert M, it seems that those who experience dropped calls are mostly on Verizon and those who don't have many dropped calls are on ATT. But it is probably a small sample to be significant.
