Any recommendations for recovering/converting a 1995 .doc?

I wonder what didn't work. I have a TON of files in .doc format.

Pages used to read .doc files better than Office...

It was able to open the files!!!!!!!

AppleWorks!

I loved that app.

For report writing at work, I had to use Word for Windows.

Not a fan.

I understand that AppleWorks had limitations and was not a true global app, but loved it all the same.

It's child, Claris Impact, was software that is still unparalleled today.
