.....on TCM.......Conrad Birdie sure is a lot like El.........


....according to host....Janet Leigh's role (played by Chita Rivera on Broadway) was larger but as the moive production went forward the director fell in love with Ann-Margret and her role became larger and larger while Janet's became smaller and smaller.....


...also trivia about Dick Van Dyke......he was hired as the anchor of 'The CBS Morning Show', for a short time [ he worked with Walter Cronkite and Barbara Walters ].....


.....the actor who plays Conrad Birdie, Jesse Pearson, is really good.....

I was the bartender in my HS production. Also was in the male chorus.

Watched that while visiting my dad. Two thoughts:

1. Couldn't they have found more teenaged actors and actresses who could, you know... sing?
2. Ann-Margret looked at least five years younger than her actual age (22).
