cool little app for tracking stocks/checking acct/credit/savings/net worth

found this on a search at macupdate:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/23768

I'm just going to use it as a simple tool for tracking my stock portfolio, but looks like a decent option for other simple tracking as well, such as a checking/savings register or any other type of account.

beats remembering/finding my scottrade account number every time I want to login and see how my stocks are doing. I'm sure there are other similar options out there, but this one will work for me, and it's free!

So is BALANCE supposed to go online and get your information or do you just enter it by hand? I don't see where there are any settings for automatic downloading of account information. If it requires hand entry, then it's not more useful than my current spreadsheet.

from what I saw on the comments at macupdate, it doesn't yet accept csv or quicken data downloaded from online sources--one of the only complaints I saw.

for me, that doesn't matter, since I'm just using it to track my stock portfolio.

I've been using a program called iStock. It only cost a few bucks if I remember right and it's been working great for me. That's all it does is track stocks but it does a dang fine job.

Here it is..

and its $12. Worth it imho.

I was using Ticker until I read this post. I updated my version of Ticker and it will not run on my computer. This sucks.

Make sure you uncheck "copy the software developer on all my personal data" in the notification preferences.

Thank Gods for backups. Now I have Ticker 3.0.4 which works great for me.
