I inquired in a post earlier this week about using some form of HD to keep movies to watch on TV as opposed to using DVDs (which get scratched and such).. this one looked pretty interesting... http://www.egoodz.com/product.asp?pf_id=3500Tvisto and was on the "front page" of DM.

One thing they tout is the ability to use ISO format. Anyone know how you would take a standard DVD (one that I bought in a store) and create an ISO that could then be stored on this thing and then watched on TV?

You might want to be careful about that retailer. It does not have a toll free number, the address is a house in a residential district in the San Gabriel Valley, and the reviews are not very good. http://www.resellerratings.com/store/egoodz

It is $5 cheaper here. http://www.shop4tech.com/item4579.html

There was a $15 coupon for egoodz, but I'd rather spend $10 and get assurance that the company is reputable.

But about the ISO...

Not a Media Streamer.
It is a Media Server.

Been almost twenty months since I tested them, but my findings.:
Noisy, hot.
Crap interface. (Did not pass the "Roomie Test")
Bad UpConvertor chips.
Glad to see HFS+ on the supported file formats list.
As always, read some reviews.
YMMV!!!!!!!!!

Media server, that's what I meant. I've got Strep... mind isn't fully there.

If this isn't THE answer... what is?

STREP!
Get to bed, get some rest!
The answer is to do some reading, and investigation.
There are tons of reviews out there.

jardster, I can only guess they're referring to DVDs that are ripped and stored as disc images. You'll need lots and lots (and lots) of HD space for that, but then again you'd avoid all of the video and audio format conversion choices, (in)compatibilities and consternation that are inevitably headed your way once you begin the journey.
