Only in urban areas. The whole point of a taxi system is that one can call a cab and they are there within 10 minutes or less. This system works well in highly dense population areas but not in the suburbs and exurbs and rural areas, which is how it should be (or the number of vehicles on the road would be substantial). The only exception may be slightly more availability for seniors and those who can't drive for some reason.

Why buy an EV when gas prices are at record lows?

Robots. Tesla has already shown a video of a version doing this.

The rub is, if you were a long time investor in Tesla, you're investment has been moving sideways for the past 4 years, where the market as a whole gained 30-40%.

The S+P 500 is actually up 93% over the past 5 years; that number would be over 100% if you sold before January.

…and kudos for that. But with a current trailing P/E of 140 (!) and profits falling like they reported yesterday, it doesn’t look very compelling going forward.

(The usual disclaimer: I hold no position, short or long, in TSLA, and never have).

Our daughter and her SO find using Uber is saving them money over having a car. They have the receipts to prove it.
