Trump Administration Reverses Course on Student Visa Cancellations
#1
The sudden shift came as a reprieve for the more than 1,500 international students who have had their visas canceled in recent weeks.

Thing about international students is that they often pay full freight. They don't get the scholarships and discounts routinely used to attract domestic students. And we're not just talking about liberal Ivy leagues. A lot of small Christian-affiliated colleges cater to internationals for this reason.

Good, hopefully the dozen or so locally managed to stay in the country during this.

Maybe. A lot have already been deported or already left on their own.

Sounds like they really didn't "reverse course" or "walk back" anything:
Joseph F. Carilli, a Justice Department lawyer, said that immigration officials had begun work on a new system for reviewing and terminating visas for international students and that, until the process was complete, agencies would not make additional changes or further revocations.

That reads like if your visa was revoked, it's still revoked.

Although:
During the hearing on Friday, Mr. Carilli said the government was prepared to file the policy change across other lawsuits, potentially providing some reprieve for students who had sued to have their visas reinstated and remain in the country through graduation ceremonies in the spring.

So I can't make heads or tails out of the article or the CFDT administration's chaotic policies.

I live in a college town and some international students here are freaking out, rightfully so.

Some of them have said they had planned on going home over the summer, but decided to stay because they didn't want to risk not being able to re-enter the U.S in the fall.

Wise. Some folks have been deported to El Salvador because they made a wrong turn on their delivery route.

If I were a parent of one of these kids I’d be seriously considering getting them home for good.

…if they go home, they are probably not getting back in. For good or not.
