DOS attacks on DH
#1
DH - DreamHost - underwent a DOS attack against their nameservers, in the middle of the night, until dawn Sunday.

what is this about?

http://www.dreamhoststatus.com/2007/04/0...-downtime/

Who is behind such an attack? do we ever find out? or why?

one of the people commented

"BTW, how many people here remember the major DNS outage that Microsoft had in 2001?? That wasn’t even DoS! Or how about the DoS attack that hit Joker.com last year? ISPs, eCommerce sites and hosting providers are in a constant war with people who run farms of compromised machines for fun and profit.
Are you THAT old?"

Usually it is about that someone is pissed at them or someone is trying to get money out of them.

Most web attacks these days are about blackmail- you know. pay us money or we will take you down.

I thought this thread referred to Donkey Hotay and that DOS referred to some old PC whacking him...

Where did you read it was unwarranted?

DH has a history of not removing a user's site based on what its written content says, unless given a court order.
