Any idea when Office for Mac will be updated?

Just curious what the rumor mills are saying re: when the next release of Office (presumably with native Intel support) will be out.

I can get Office 2004 through work for $20, but being the extreme cheapskate that I am, I'm wondering if the next version is just around the corner.

I'm dying to see what improvements they make in Entourage.

Thanks papercup. Well, since "second half of 2007" could be six months from now, I decided to pull the trigger. $21.50 after tax, but with free shipping. Now I'll be waiting for a package from Redmond to show up in my mailbox...

I've been troubleshooting my Entourage (Office: Mac 2004) with Microsoft Mac Support with number of sessions on the phone in the last couple of weeks.

At issue were the number of spontaneous crashes (Entourage quits and automatically restarts) I had been experiencing.

In the process of troubleshooting the problem, I was told to rebuild the database and ended up switching back and forth through the several Identities that I ended up with.

In one Identity I found an unusual feature, instead of the alerts appearing sequentially (one in front of the next) they were all shown at once in a tiled format. I liked this so much that I decided to call MS tech support to see how to set this as a preference.

Turned out there was no information available on how to do this, so it remains a "hidden" feature Sad

While I was asking about this feature, the next version of Office for Mac came up and I was informed that the tech support people were told it was coming in about three months.

Apparently, it was going to be released sooner, but because Microsoft wanted to make sure of complete compatibility with the new Intel Macs they went back to the drawing board.

It will be interesting to see what the changes/improvements will be.

Still no reason for me to go past v.x for the much slower 2004. I think 98 was good enough and can't think of any feature I use that is newer than that.
