My review of "Pan's Labyrinth"

Brutal.

Loved it.

It was funny hearing parents complaining that they had to leave the theater with their children. It was rated freaking R for a reason dumbasses.

I heard that about the parents too, yeah.

The box says something about it being a fantasy movie, like LOTR. I didn't believe this, having heard about the plot beforehand.

The dialog around the baby transfer towards the end tell me that reality in the movie will not conform to the characters' wishes or desires. I consider the movie to contain only one story, one which I found shockingly sad.

The ending felt a little ambiguous to me, and I was mildly disappointed -- although not in the movie itself, but rather how I had built it up in my mind. I'd still highly recommend it.

Ugh. I didn't think the ending was ambiguous at all. Just very certain, and very final.

Brutal? yes

Also Beautiful, tragic, breathtaking, visually arresting, perfectly written and acted.

Easily one of the best films I saw last year.

If you liked this type of movie I would also recommend:

Brazil (criterion collection cut)

I have been trying to rent it, but both Blockbuster stores near me have been completely out. Bring back the late fees so people will return the movies already. Big Grin

I saw it last week & LOVED it! Some of the images stayed in my head for days afterwards.
