has anyone any experience with this company and their products?
Trying to be energy efficient and replace the junky GE CFL torchiere we have.

I did not think full spectrum and energy saving bulbs were synonymous. The light boxes have a lot of bulbs to provide therapy as their intent. The fluorescent? round bulbs to cut energy I am starting to favor now that I have to pay power I did not know had any full spectrum advantage.

Never thought just a bulb change could help light sensitivity after buying a bunch of bulbs which were supposed to do so. Not enough lumens. The bulbs were not much brighter and I sure never noticed any change in the Winter blues I have.

The expense of the boxes has deterred me although I am sure it would help. I guess getting away from regular or fluorescent bulbs which have been said to be detrimental attitude wise is probably a good thing though. My light sensitivity is one reason Seattle is not my home in spite of the beauty mostly in the summer.

Time will tell. No, not the same as the GE!
Just the same light, for much cheaper.
Also, their return policy is as stated, you don't like it, send it back!

I've been buying from fullspectrumsolutions for over 7 years now, and they've always been superb. Of the maybe 2 dozen or so bulbs I bought from them, I've had a light bulb problem only once, and they replaced the bulb right away.

In response to the previous posters:

Spearmint:
1. Full spectrum and flourescent are NOT the same--AFAIK, all true full spectrum are flourescent, but many flourescents are not full spectrum.

2. To get any real benefit for seasonal affect disorder from full spectrum bulbs, you need to have 10,000 lux at a distance of (IIRC) no more than 24". Obviously, just replacing lightbulbs won't do that--you're right when you say "not enough lumens."

3. The boxes are REALLY expensive. I built one myself for about $75, using high output compact flourescents, lined it with aluminum foil for better reflection, and it works amazingly well--really makes a difference in SAD for our household. Use it for an hour or so in the morning, and it works well.

BigGuynRusty:

www.firststreetonline.com products are NOT the same as those from fullspectrumsolutions.com. For starters, firststreet only sells lamps, not lightbulbs. Second, the quality of the light from firststreet is not nearly as good: the CRI (indication of color accurary) for firstreet is only 84, while the CRI for fullspectrum is 94.

So calling them the same is, umm, incorrect. But don't get me wrong, firststreet is a better price. But it's for a lesser product.

Fritz:
I put in a huge order last time, and I have some sitting around that I want to get rid of, so if anybody's interested, send me a PM--I'll sell them at 50% of the price fullspectrum wants (their per bulb price, not the bulk price). They're mostly the smaller ones--14 & 18 watt spirals, maybe a 24 or two.

I wasn't saying the device was "same as the GE". I was referring to quality.

If it were to arrive and be the same as the 1st St, whose quality bit monkey parts, then it would go back, as the 1st St did when I opened the box and discovered what pure f'in' 5h1t it was.

Thanks amouse. Need a torchiere here.

and in an unrelated rant. New top of the line Kohler potty. Seat hinge snapped in under 6 months; w/o the help on any big people. That's what I call quality you can 5h1t on.
