Improved iMac graphics won’t matter to gamers

The upgrade moves the iMac up to "average" but it's still far from competing with the "big boys" for gaming.

It's an average card connected to a below average (for gaming) screen.

Not everyone needs to have a $3000 dollar gaming rig with dual graphics cards to have fun.

As long as the machine can hold it's own at around 50FPS then "most" people will have an enjoyable gaming experience...

Well, you said "big boys."

And most high-end gaming rigs I see are around $1k (without monitor.) They can get up close to $2k if they're really pushing it.

The Nvidia 8800 product line was introduced in November 2006. The 8800 GS barely qualifies as a mid range card now that the 9800 line is out. It is fine for playing PC games introduced 12 to 18 months ago.



It is much better for some PC games than the Radeon HD 2600 XT but the Radeon drivers seem to work better for Motion 3.
