RIP iBook, etc.

Yeah, BL, I tend to agree with you. By 'open it up' I mean they lifted the keyboard. It's intact right now.

I might be able to have a friend take the board out, but I'm not sure he'll be in the state when the board comes back.

You guys think Craigslist is the best place to list it? I'll give it a shot, but I don't think RI is a very Mac friendly place. If anyone knows anyone who'd be interested, I'd appreciate the contact. The hard drive and Airport card alone have got to be worth something, maybe the display, I'd guess...

Thanks,

I got an email today from First Phase Tech. They have re-flowed and resoldered thte logic board. I should have it back together by the weekend. I'll post the results.

Good luck with your new improved logic board, aj!

I'm thinking I might have to put it on eBay, unless there's a listing site you guys recommend... would love to trade it towards another machine, or just avoid eBay! I'll also list it to Craigslist for the heck of it.

The hard drive is not wiped-it can be accessed via FireWire(Apple Store hooked it up there)but I don't have a cable and money is getting a little tight with having to get another machine and everything else going on. I don't *think* there's anything sensitive on it-she might have let a benign website or two remember her password(never set up a keychain-but she doesn't have PayPal or anything else desirable), downloaded some podcasts, and installed Rosetta Stone. I wasn't going to fret about letting someone have the machine as-is; what do you guys think?

Thanks,
rfd
