It looks like those of who already made our choice are taking it personally, as though we have to promote and defend the type we bought. Then impose that view on others.
Keep in mind, once you make a choice between LCD or Plasma, you're obligated to then turn around and immediately impose your view on those who haven't chosen a model yet.
If you're not willing to promote the choice you made as the ONLY choice anyone should ever consider, you might not be allowed to buy one. Make sure they don't make you sign something promising you'll join the cult and defend the brand. That fine print can catch up with you!

Quite right. Plasmas were far and away superior when I bought mine back in 2005, but I have no idea who's on top (if either of them are) right now. Haven't been out looking at TVs enough to have an informed opinion.
Best advice anybody can give you is, get out there, look for yourself, and trust your own eyes. Pick the screen your eyes like the best, not the one with the longest feature list or best "ratings."

Personally, I would buy a plasma. Get what you can afford. 720 is really good enough for most everybody.
The blacks are weaker on LCD.
If you play a lot of games, the tv is in a very bright room or like to pause the tv and walk away, get a LCD.
