Have Garmin 660, recommend a replacement?
#1
Currently have the Garmin 660. I have very little navigation problems with, as long as I understand the settings, and have them set correctly., i.e, Avoidances TRAFFIC, to off.

Are there any current Garmins that the options, I cant live without. Was wondering about the sort multiple routes feature on the newer models.

I have the FM Traffic, and it is OK, and with the last update, it will at least show more than a ONE MINUTE delay.

Don't use the mp3 player broadcasting to the radio, as there are too many radio channels, in Los Angeles.

Don't leave the Garmin in the car for every trip, so using it as hands free, only seems to happen on long trips. Bluetooth.

So Multiple routes, and MSN traffic, is that all I would be living without?

They sure do turn out the models, and keep us wanting.

Yes, space-time, Microman's post was pretty incoherent.

That said, I currently have a 680, which seems to be slightly better than the 660 that I started with back in October. Mainly due to the MSN Direct traffic feature.

I plan to replace it with the new 880 when it becomes available and the price has dropped. http://www.gpsmagazine.com/2008/05/garmi...review.php http://www.gpsmagazine.com/2008/05/garmi...review.php

I am very happy with the 660 and 680's bluetooth handsfree feature and I feel that the 880's speech recognition and routing features will make this new Nuvi near perfect.

BTW, Garmin's customer service has been great.

Sorry about the incoherency.... I wanted to post quickly, and I just let it flow, without going back and tightening up a bit.

Bottom line , I did get some info, about Speech Recognition which I did know was there, and a positive recomendation for Routing features.

Will follow links, and try to stay on my meds.

Now what's wrong with the 660 now?

The only thing I can add, and it's less about features than convenience, would be to consider an in-dash unit. I happen to have the Pioneer AVIC and it replaced my Gamin 660 - mainly because I got tired of hiding the unit when I parked.
Regarding features, the Pioneer has the bluetooth option and the iPod option as well as the backup camera. I find I use those features far more often than the navigation.
