Yes. Since I got my iPhone, my whole home office participates in some sort of cell phone induced cacophony several time throughout the day. My RAZR did the same thing, but not as much.

Neither my brother's Motorola nor our friends' Blackberry, iPhone nor S/O's Palm Centro would have that issue.

my samsung certainly does.

Normal for GSM phones. Nothing to worry about, it's just a large burst of electromagnetic energy sent from the cell phone out to the base station. Your speakers just pick it up.

It's deafening until I move the phone far away.

All of my previous phones made *some* noise occasionally.
My 'Phone is the first GSM product I've had and as other GSM phone owners know, it can be really annoying. If I rotate my 'Phone when it's near audio electronics, I can usually find a null that's silent or nearly so. Some powered 'Phone and 'Pod speaker systems are supposed to be shielded against such outbursts, but I don't know how effective that is. For such use one can put a 'Phone in airplane mode, but then it's not much of a phone.

and how do you think those brain cells feel when all this energy goes though them?
sure, I know they say it's safe, but we only have such data for the past 10-20 years. Our brains evolved for millions of years on a constant low background of electromagnetic radiation, and how we ADD bursts of energy originating 1 inch away from brain cells. Maybe it's OK, maybe not, I don't know, so I limit using the cell phone as much as possible (one more reason to stick with prepaid)

And I never drive under high-tension lines without a tin-foil hat.
