I applied for one of those government coupons, which should arrive in a few weeks. What is the box I should get? I heard that some insignia are junk and some zenith are pretty good. Is that true? I have cable TV, but if the box is cheap (almost free after coupon) I might get it and see how it works.
Any advice is appreciated.

STF for a few of my posts on this subject ... in my experience, they all have pros and cons... no one box is just "the best".

Look at the DTVpal by EchoStar (yes, the dish people).
It provides timer tuning to different channels -- great if you have it hooked up to an old school (aka not digital) recording device...
(and they take the coupons direct) or the "TR-40 CRA" version which costs the same amount as the coupon...

New boxes are out now as well, some have newer features, some do a better job of getting in signals. We just discussed this at work, I'll ask around and see what the recommendations are.

insignia = rebranded zenith
Both the same, both considered a good all-around choice.
