Router on the blink. Time to replace???
#1
My Belkin "g" router loses the internet connection frequently. First I check to see if Comcast is the problem, but it works fine when plugged directly into the cable modem. Sometimes I need to restart the router and modem 2 or 3 times before it works again.

This happened a few months ago as well, but then the problem mysteriously disappeared. Until now.

Is the router almost dead when this happens a lot?

I'd flash the newest available firmware before writing it off. Consumer class routers have a typical lifespan of about 3 years, alas. Apple's stuff usually lasts me about.. well, 8 years so far for the Airport snow.

Yes.

I'm not sure about "almost", but close enough.
Smash it with a hammer if you need a bit more impetus to replace it.
Be brave. Maverick even.
