Bluetooth mice revisited and a question about MM
#1
I have two Mighty Mice and I'm about over the issues with scrolling as well as the fact that I like extra programable buttons for page back and so on. I searched the forum and read everything pertaining to BT mice from the past 6 months. Has anything new come up since then? It seems like the Logitech V470 got good marks and so did the Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 and the SMK-Link VP6151. All seem to be smaller sized "notebook" mice and while I have no issues with my M$ USB Wireless Optical Notebook Mouse I suppose a full size mouse might be preferable.

So my question is: Which mouse are you using and would you buy it again considering your experience and if not, which (if any) would you choose instead.

And regarding my MM - I have AppleCare on my notebooks and I don't recall when I bought the MM, so is there a chance that I could take the MM to my Genius Bar and get it replaced? I go through the cleaning routines frequently but the scrool wheel gives up in only a few days or sooner after spending a half hour cleaning it. I haven't taken it apart, but have tried the white paper trick, compressed air, alcohol wipes. None seem to last.

I too had to give up on my MM. I liked it a lot but, as you say, the cleaning thing just got to be too much trouble. I went with a full sized Logitech LX8 mouse that I got on a BF deal at Staples. It is wireless but not BT. It uses a small dongle that sticks out of the back of my iMac's keyboard. I like the feel of the mouse and the scroll wheel works well, but not as well as the MM scroll ball, when it worked. Mine runs off of AA batteries that I have not yet had to replace. Here is a link to mine, but I only paid $14.99, I think, so the linked newegg page is not a good price.

The V470 you mention looks similar, just smaller. HTH

I've got two BT MMs that I use regularly. I clean them once every two weeks or so, no problem.

I miss having extra buttons, but I will *only* do BT, and probably won't replace them with anything but MMs unless Kensington makes a BT TB and a MouseWorks update.

Have you checked into the SlimBlade Trackball Mouse? It is sort of like the MM, but only has two buttons plus the middle ball (not clickable) and a middle mode button (only clickable for drag and hold while in trackball mode). The trick is that this pointing device can switch between trackball and mouse mode. Nice little unit.

$69.99 retail. I bought my last model for less than $40 shipped. I must warn, it also has the asinine, unremovable roller ball unit that needs to be cleaned periodically.
