Apple on Apple? AppleTV fails with Airport Extreme?
#1
I have done some research and some experimentation.

My AppleTV loses connection and forgets my network password when it is connected to my Airport Extreme Base Station. This is a huge problem especially because my password is 11 characters long.

I tried downgrading my Airport Extreme base station firmware (an option I observed on several sites).

My AppleTV works flawlessly with my Netgear router.

Anyone have insight to this problem? Solutions are welcome, but I must say (for the first time), I am disappointed.

I gave up trying to solve the particular problem and just reboot the Apple TV when it loses connection rather than re-entering the password. It almost always reconnects automatically after the reboot (unplug/replug).

Ha! Try reentering my 64 character password into your Apple TV. I set my mom up with a Linksys WRT54G-TM wireless router and her Apple TV works flawlessly with it. Odd that the Airport Express, which is obviously also made by Apple, would have such trouble with an Apple TV.

FWIW, I have an Airport Extreme 802.11n as the wireless hub for my network and an Apple TV with the WPA2 security setup. The AEBS is running firmware 7.4.1. The ATV has not lost its network connection. Its major problem is sometimes disappearing in iTunes. I then quit and restart iTunes and it shows up once again.

I also lose connection and I have the Airport Extreme with everything updated to the latest and greatest. I probable lose connection because I don't use it a lot during the week, to me it will stay connected for a while but if it's been over a week or two it disconnects.
