How do you connect to your macs from XP machine on same network?

I gave up trying to network xp home and os x. I've used ftp for about 5 years now.

You can always also turn on FTP on the Mac and use that.
Bonjour has no (or not much of an) interface.
It does allow you to refer to other machines on the network by "\\machine_name.local", however, in the NetPlaces dialog boxes.

Thanks-- I think I mentioned above that I'd done that.
Thanks for the detailed instructions-- will come back to them if I decide I absolutely have to be able to go to the macs from the netbook.
