Came home yesterday to find the power had been off for a few hours. My G5 was off and was probably asleep prior to the power going down. Fired up the G5 and my PC and log in. PC gets on the network just fine, but the G5 does not. Strange... So I run through the network troubleshooting wizard to no avail, then notice that my IP address isn't what I expect it to be. I have my Airport Extreme set for DHCP, so my devices should all get IP's in the 10.0.1.X range. My G5 had something totally random.
Rebooted my Extreme and my G5 with the same results. PC still going strong. Finally, I turned off my Ethernet configuration, rebooted the G5, turned Ethernet back on to DHCP and viola, I'm connected. Thought I was done with the problem, go away for a few hours with the G5 still on, came back and the same network problem. Fixed it the same way. Put it to sleep overnight and this morning the same problem.
My next step is to reset my Extreme and see if that solves the problem. It's important to note that now I can't see or configure my Extreme from my G5 at this point, even though I'm connected to the net. Very strange. Anybody else have any ideas? Why would the G5 have problems if the PC didn't. They're all connected to the same network switch and to the Extreme.
