In many states, you consult your local law enforcement agency.
I don't know about Washington state specifically.

If you are from the USA, what the Canadian customs ask is their business and you have no right to complain. What the American customs ask is your business and you can complain all day long.

the issue is if the US government has shared with other governments that I, Racer X own firearms.
They are not allowed by law to have a list of gun owners, except what I listed earlier. All that BS about a federal database that they show on cop shows is a load of crap. Some individual states do have a database of sample cartridges from newly registered firearms (Mass is one) but they are forbidden by law to share that info with other states or the Feds.

I wonder just where on the passport such information is listed?

All U.S. passports issued since (sep 2008?) have a chip embedded in the cover. It is RFID (radio frequency identification) technology. Memory capacity may be discoverable through online search (I haven't yet); a few kilobytes (or kibibytes) will hold everything printed on the passport, a digitized version of the photo will require a megabyte (mibiyte) or so...
Lessee, flash memory capacities in excess of 1GB Programming power supplied by inductive coupling for high drive current Interrogation power by RF burst (and on chip charge storage) My, how progress marches on!
