Pamela's Brownie mix is gluten free and nut free I believe.

Let's take this to the extreme... that is not considered "extreme" in some schools... it's "standard policy".
"I mean, there are zillions of things that generally are gluten-free--fruit, fruit-rolls," Too much sugar. Forbidden. nuts, Students may have nut allergies. Forbidden rice crackers You get a "maybe" on this one. , grain-free trail mix, May have been processed on the same machinery as nuts. Forbidden ice cream, most candy. Too much sugar. Forbidden. I know at least one teacher who would forbid ALL of those to be brought to class. Thank god she retired last year... It's NICE to look for alternatives that everyone can share. But beyond a certain point, this "sensitivity to everyones needs/wants/desires/allergies/special diets" gets completely crazy!

Think I'm heading back to Trader Joes tonight with Declan to get the tried and the true Brownie Mix. Really, the teacher tells us just to worry about "nut free". The children on special diets have their own snacks. However, last year it was very appreciated that we thought of all the kids.

Fruit has too much sugar? I want to see it in writing. Dried fruit: raisins, figs, apricots.....

I vote for fruit - I've seen the individually wrapped apple slices - baby carrots are usually liked by kids - maybe with some ranch dressing for dipping?
