quick question for Linksys wrt54G router owners

what is your wall wart rated at volts and amps/milliamps?

I have a router but not its PS. I have a bunch oif ones that would likely work if i know what the original one is.

yes, polarity and power tip are not an issue for me.

Well I have one at hand that I was going to give to my daughter. Input 120v, 60hz, and 23w. Output 12vdc at 1000ma. Male plug looks standard for 12v with center positive.

Don't know if it would really make a difference, X, but you might want to specify what rev of that router you have - there have been several.

Racer, flip it over and on a id tag it will list the power. On mine it is 12v 1amp. I was following up on the "rev" question. Date of mfg was 08/2005. I can't imagine a mfg changing a power supply when it is nothing special and they bought 10,000 of them. I really liked the unit and only went to Apple Express with a USB for network printing.

that will work.

As long as the voltage is right you are OK if the amperage meets or exceeds the device's demand. So if it only needs 0.5 Amp, 1 Amp will do nicely. Lower than required amperage might cause the device not to work, or the power supply to burn out early. Over voltage is the thing to really watch out for.

No details from my sleepy brain right now, but I had to buy a replacement for one I received free not too long ago. No info on the bottom, so I had to look online for the answer. There are two different adapters, depending on your version (no idea why). Check on their website to make sure. I think the one you've been steered toward is the more common one, though.
