Stopping lethal injections
#1
Hospira has previously made clear that it is not comfortable with its products being used in the lethal injection process.

Officials in California are pressing for its first execution in over four years to go ahead on Thursday evening as scheduled, because the state's last remaining batch of sodium thiopental expires on Friday.

Any other executions would have to be delayed until a new batch of the drug is received by the state next year.

Oklahoma delayed a planned execution last month because of the sodium thiopental shortage. A lack of the drug also led Kentucky's governor to put death warrants for two inmates on hold.

Sodium thiopental is primarily used as anaesthesia for surgical patients and to induce medical comas. It has also been used to euthanise animals." wrote:

Wow. And the Beeb is not the only news organization reporting that.

That's got to be one of the best reasons that I've ever heard for the state to murder someone.

How many reasons do they need?

I think under due process, they need at least one big Whopper. (...or at least a Big Mac, hold the cheese.)

While a rather pitiful 'reason', the reality of the death penalty as a law of the United States (dependent on the individual state) exists. How you feel about it will definitely color your reaction to this article.

Nah, guillotine.

"Off with the head!" as the cry went.

I have a friend who always asks why they sterilize the needle before administering a lethal injection.

In this country we euthanize pets routinely for various reasons. Save more pets and terminate people who are put on death row for murder and heinous crimes......

As well as those who may be improperly and wrongly convicted due to "mistakes".

We can always say, "Sorry." to their families later.
