AIG "Bailout" or US Government Loss Cutting ?
#1
CNN talks about it
"NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- AIG said Thursday it has reached agreement on a plan that it will end its multi-billion dollar bailout from the federal government and provide for the full repayment to U.S. taxpayer"

I'm in agreement with the discussion last night on NPR. This 'bail out' plan is incredible bollocks, and means that the US taxpayers will not see more than pennies on the dollar. I believe the statement went something like this:

AIG has a market cap that is far less than the amount owed to the US taxpayers.

Doing an IPO in this market will further reduce the value of the taxpayer's equity.

The US should wait until AIG returns to profitability before selling the then appreciated shares.

If I can payoff my mortgage in two years AIG will pay back their "loan". All election year fraud.
