Obama Administration strongarming ISP's to block sites 'they don't like'
#1
techdirt has the dirt on Obama's Internet Power Grab
"while most folks have been focused on COICA, the White House's Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator (IP Czar) Victoria Espinel has apparently been holding meetings with ISPs, registrars, payment processors and others to get them to agree to voluntarily do what COICA would mandate. While the meeting is carefully focused on stopping websites that sell gray market pharmaceuticals, if registrars start agreeing to censoring websites at the behest of the government, it's as if we're halfway to a COICA-style censorship regime already. ICANN, who manages the internet domain name system was asked to attend the meeting, but felt that it "was not appropriate to attend" such a meeting. "

Somehow I'm channeling the last few minutes of the film "Sneakers"...

Sheesh, this guy and his anti-colonial mindset.

Pretty soon we'll only be able to access websites from exiled Kenyan dictators asking for help in securing "great inherited fortune held hostage by the current regime."

This side has become so predictable. When presented with evidence that Obama is doing what Bush was accused of, and much more, bring up black president, Kenya, post recipes, and assorted pictures of tables, chairs and parrots, and not to be forgotten, post dots. When I said this place just oozes with intellect I wasn't kidding.

In fact, one could argue that keeping drugs artificially expensive in the US does a lot more harm to Americans than the chance of them getting a fake pill.

One can argue anything, I feel like this is pushing it though.

I don't like the ACTA treaty that's being negotiated behind closed doors but with input from Big Medias lobyists. They want to put the responsibility for copyright enforcement on ISP's. Three strikes and you're out. Guilty until proven innocent, I don't fü**ing think so.

Schmucky assumes I post anything over here but quick asides and stupid jokes.
Yet another FAIL.

Schmucky also assumes I am a fan of this President (or any politician, FTM).
FAIL x2.

It's ok, we know you don't comprehend the issues being discussed here.
