billb, we were discussing why people don't want to uproot their lives and move to California for seasonal migrant labor as opposed to collecting unemployment benefits to which they are fully entitled. Dakota is derailing it with this BS about health benefits because he mis-read the article and thought people in PA are getting health insurance while on unemployment. I foolishly thought he had quoted the article correctly.

Of course people put a value to their benefits. But if someone says, "I make $56,000 a year" would you assume they were giving you a total of all their benefits and perks and the value of their vacation time and yadayada? I wouldn't and I doubt anyone else would, either.

The health benefit thing is Dakota's way of shifting off-topic because he could see that nobody agreed with him so he is trying to act like he was talking about something else altogether.

Anyhow, people in PA don't get health insurance while on unemployment so it's entirely moot.

$300x52=$15600
12000x65%=$7800

Total=$23400

I assure you there are more free stuff, like drug coverage etc. Even without that we are talking about $11.25 an hour. Therefor, unemployment check>minimum wage. Conclusion: minimum wage jobs go unfilled. Millions of people make this calculation every day. The other dirty little secret is that they work on the side too. You can extend 99 weeks to 199 and people would run that out too.

There is no drug coverage or "free stuff" and you cannot prove that there is. Because there is not. You are absolutely making sh!t up. I know people on unemployment, you big damn dumb, obviously you do not.

You think Unemployment Benefits is the same program as Welfare, don't you, Mr. Duh?

The $11.25 has no drug plans in it. At least we now know that you can sit around for 99 weeks and collect $11.25 an hour. The corner grocery store has to compete with this figure. Good luck.
