Political Battleground State... Getting PTSD from all this.
#1
Ohio has had a visit from either the President or the Vice President almost every single month this year. The level of political advertising is overwhelming... I get perhaps 10 direct mail political ads , at least two flyers get left at the house by one candidate or another , and perhaps 4 damned political robo-calls every DAY.

And yet... the tenor of the campaign is entirely negative. I only rarely see "What will I do" and "What do I believe" ads. Mostly they are "My opponent is to blame for the bad stuff", or "My opponent will do bad stuff if elected".

Fortunately I can toss the junk mail in the trash and leave the TV off. Sheesh. I learn everything I need to know here !!!

Pretty quiet campaigning here except for the County Sheriff campaigns.
Hundreds of thousand of dollars for a county sheriff's job.Huge 6 and 8 foot signs being erected / slashed / driven over / through. Real nasty.
If you only read the negative ads from opponents you wouldn't vote for any of the scumbags. Almost makes ya wonder why they are not incarcerated in the prisons they want to get paid to operate. :-)

Ditto in Iowa and Illinois

Very negative stuff from the Dems and Repubs.

Ohio, Iowa and Illinois are states that are understandably stressed. What I'd be asking a politician is: What are you doing about the brain/youth/jobs drain? Ohio may lose 2 more Congressional seats as a result of the 2010 census, all 3 states will lose at least one seat. What reasons do young people have to establish themselves in those places? Who has creative solutions for the future? Who is stuck in the past?
