Sales leads organizer?
#1
Hey all . . .!

I'm looking for an app that's meant for organizing sales leads info. I want to keep track of people I'm contacting for music gigs. Right now I've got everything in a number of places, and it's getting crazy.

I don't need anything complicated or "robust". Something simple is best, as I probably won't get into all the other stuff that most of these programs come with.

Any recommendations are welcome.

Thanks!
(using MBP, 10.4.9)

Bento by Filemaker is $50. Although you might need to update your OS to 10.5, maybe.

SugarCRM (Free Open Source software, paid version is also available)
or
Salesforce.com (Pay to use, probably overkill for your needs)

Could you put them into addressbook and then make a "group" for leads? There is a note field for each entry. I put notes in there like this:

I need a bit more than that. I also don't want all that info to sync with my iphone

Some contacts want me to email them, some want a phone call. It would be great to be able to look them up from different search terms, and to have what type of contacts for that day to come up based on type of connnection.

Back in the day, I used to do it all on paper, but that's no longer efficient. :eye:

Here's an interesting post from an email discussion group
http://groups.google.com/group/macintosh_pims?hl=en
that I belong to:

I first go to DevonThink and create a folder with that person's name. In DevonThink terminology, it is called a group. Let's title it "John Doe". In John Doe, I can create subfolders or subgroups such as e-mails, invoices, phone calls, etc. I drag the e-mails, PDFs, Office documents, etc. into the appropriate folder/group. If I highlight a folder/group, I can go to the Edit menu and select
"Copy Item Link". This basically copies the URL on your Mac. Here is a sample:
x-devonthink-item://D22069E9-C1E5-4E51-ACFB-8BD5C841E6A7
I go back to Address Book and select a contact. Then I click on the
Edit Button to edit that contact. Then I select from the menu bar
Card > Add Field > URL
I will paste the item link from the clipboard.
I can paste multiple URLs. I paste a link to the DevonThink E-Mail folder/group. Another link could be for "Minutes of Meetings". And so forth.....
Now, If I click on that contact, I get to see the URLs for those DevonThink items. I can click on a particular link and it will open DevonThink and jump straight to where that link was originally
located.

I have given up looking for a perfect contact manager and found that
using Apple Address Book to hold the contact information and then
using the URL field to link to DevonThink has worked out perfectly for
me.

Every once in a while, I download SOHO Organizer but I just keep
deleting it after I look at it for a while. The Apple Address Book and
DevonThink combo has worked perfectly for me. For my tasks, I just use
OmniFocus and set up a project in there. OmniFocus also has a "Copy
Link" in the Edit menu and I can paste that URL if I want to jump to
OmniFocus for that particular project.
It's all about using URLs in Address Book for me.....

I get what you are saying, but I don't want this to involve Address Book. I want to keep most business contacts out of my Address Book.

Thanks for the link. I'll look through some of those other programs that people are mentioning.
