They are still useful if you want to give kids a card that can only be used for gas. All you see these days are racks and racks of "gift" cards.
Do they sell gas cards anymore?

if you have Kroger supermarkets in your area their gift cards can be used at their gas pumps.

Shell has gift cards at most Walgreens.

Are those Shell cards exclusively gas cards. That is what I am looking for.

I got a $50 BP card at Publix a week or two ago with a $10 discount when I bought $25 in groceries. I assume most chain supermarkets carry gas cards. Dunno whether an individual station would or would not let you use it for purchases other than gas though.

Didn't do it this year, but I know last year we bought Mobil gas cards for each of our kids for Christmas. I remember buying them at the gas station itself, but it looks like you can get them online, too.

The more I think about it the time for "gas cards" may have passed. Even if they exist they can certainly be used to buy all sorts of stuff inside.
