The age-old GPS conundrum: Update Map on Garmin Nuvi 260W?

The age old question. Do a one time map update, a lifetime update via Amazon or just buy a new unit with lifetime maps and traffic?

One of the reviews for the map update on amazon says that the 2011 map update will no longer fit completely on the Nuvi 260w, that you have to store some of it on an SD card.

My current map is from 2008 or 2009, and seems hopelessly out of date at times. And slow.

Makes no sense to buy lifetime map updates (for your current GPS) for ~$80 when you should be able to find a brand new GPS that includes lifetime maps & traffic for around $150, give or take a bit.
