A Hint That Steve Jobs' Departure Date Has Been Planned for a While
#1

"But now that we have the Steve Jobs news, the reporting date makes a whole lot of sense. Moreover, the fact that Apple chose to release its earnings right after a 3-day weekend in order to give investors time to soak in the news of Jobs' indefinite departure lends support to the idea that Steve Jobs has been planing to take a leave for a very long time. At a minimum, plans must have been drawn at least since mid-December and maybe even earlier."

I'd be surprised to learn it wasn't carefully planned and orchestrated.

Agreed. That was my guess when I heard about the news. Here's what I wrote in a thread on monday:

But don't you think Jobs and team timed this announcement to do the least amount of damage to the stock? Remember, they all hold shares (a great deal more than any of us peons) and want to keep AAPL & Apple on a steady course.

+1. Steve Jobs plans everything years in advance - he probably planned for getting his cancer two years before it happened. There's no way he walked away from Apple on a moment's notice.
