Any idea if Maya 6 or 3ds max 7 are worth anything?

Someone I know has several copies and I'm trying to figure out if they're worth anything. They're both ~5 years old.

I think they are not worth much today because Autodesk lets students have free copies of some of their software while they are taking classes, and from the looks of the remnants of searching, Maya 2010 hit the torrents about 16 months ago (2011 is out now).

For Mac?

Maya 6 is still serviceable, although I'm not sure if it runs on Intel. I used it for years anyway, having started on 5. They push out updates every year now, actually two last year, but anyway.

The free student versions will render out with a watermark so if you want to do some actual work these older versions might be useful to someone.

If the 3ds max 7 is also compatible with Windows, I'd be very interested in a copy, and might know somebody else who'd like a copy if your friend has two. I'll check back here to see if you follow it up.
