I've had charter telephone for awhile now and it is just terrible. Dropped calls all the time, poor quality, all my friends and relatives complain about how I sound over it. I've had charter out to fix it and they can't make it any better.
Sooooo, if I wanted to totally get rid of my home phone and have the phone number redirected to my cell phone, what would be the most economical way to do that?

Don't know your exact situation, but we bought a new iPhone and started a new account with AT&T, and they switched over our home number no muss, no fuss, no charge.

....this is so easy that you can just PHONE it in....
.....just transfer over like you would any cell #.....they will transfer it like that.....

Lazy,
In your situation, I'd get a Vonage US & Canada Unlimited account. $25 per month. Not the cheapest but nice and flexible. Port your number over to Vonage. Use Vonage Simultaneous Ring feature. People call your home phone but it rings on X, Y, Z, etc phone line. If you pick it up on a line that isn't your Vonage line, Vonage instantly forwards the call to it. The forwarded call uses Vonage minutes _and_ cellular minutes. This way, your still have a "landline" to use at home but can answer the calls at your convenience on your cell phone.
This is a flavor of what I do with my old phone number which is now on Vonage. I've had number for a very long time, it's easy to remember and I don't want people to have to learn a new one. Currently, my parents also use the number as a fax number. So, vonage rings my vonage line. I use Simulring to have vonage ring my cellular line. If it's a call for me, I either let my answering machine get it or I pick it up on my cell phone. Or, if it's someone sending a fax, I simply let the all-in-one pick up the call. Works very well, at least for me. YMMV.
