how long are you staying there?

my CPAP did not deliver the spectacular results you had, and thus I could go weeks without it.

In the meantime try sleeping sitting up or with a bunch of pillows, so your tongue won't slide back and obstruct your breathing.
Also check to see if there is a doctor/dentist who will make you a mouthpiece which will keep your tongue from doing that.
The mask was impossible for me. I kept having to remove it to deal with post-nasal drip etc. The mouthpiece was easier to deal with.
