Is there any utility or script out there for handling captialized text?
#1
I get a lot of text files where the copy is all caps. It's not a style applied. It's idiots out there that type with the caps lock on.

What I would give my "i" teeth for is a script or utility app that would keep the first letter capitalized but would convert the remaining letters of the word to lower case.

It would save a huge amount of time.

Anyone?

Someone save my sanity!

Or something that would convert all cap text to lower case?

That would help.

TextEdit. Edit > transformations > Capitalize.

You're welcome.

Looks like the online conversion like does a "Sentence case" conversion that TextEdit doesn't have. Either way, be careful about de-capitalizing proper names located mid sentence.

hey! i'll be careful or careless - whatever i'm in the mood for, when it comes to things like making
sure that MIKEBW and whatever CAVE you live in are properly capitalized! or de-capitalized!

and if it makes me feel good, i'll even use improper spelling on words like "decapitalize" as well as
piss poor grammer to go right along with them thar mispelt words!

Ewe got that, mikey-BOY!?

I believe you're looking for "Change Case"... Microsoft Word.. Select text. Format. Change Case to "Sentence Case". It will have problems with Proper Nouns.

There are several sets of "Services" which will do this.
WordService is a good, free one - http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/10523/wordservice

TextWrangler and Tex-Edit also have built-in functions to do what you want.

textSOAP is very good for this and other stuff but you won't want to buy it for just this.
