DVD Copy protection..
#1
How in the world do I make a copy of a DVD that I own legally? I've tried handbrake and WinX DVD Ripper for Mac. Both programs can only see the first 2 video segments, but there are 4 additional parts. I can watch it on my mac DVD player app. I'm trying MacTheRipper now...but is there any other way to get this copied?

Thanks.

Try RipIt. It has a free demo.

Thanks for the referral to rip it.

Seems like MacTheRipper did the trick...why do these disc manufacturers even bother? The really 'bad' folks out there will have professional level cracking tools and then sell copies of the discs. The non-pro (like me) will only want a back-up in case the kids scratch the day lights out of the original...

Because the end user is automatically considered a pirate first.

I feel the same way about software. Dealing with pirated software is often easier than dealing with purchased software that has some hack-job activation.

It's the same reason you have locks on your front door; it reduces temptation for the majority of the casual users but anyone who wants to circumvent it will find a way.

DVD copy protection thwarts plenty of people. It thwarted you initally, didn't it? I consider you pretty savvy. And the fact that you used ripping software makes you aware of your deliberate act, which by the way, is a violation of the DMCA even if you own the DVD. I do it all the time but I don't pretend that I'm not violating the terms.
