For those that may enjoy folk-type music...
#1
I was doing the whole, "what is that old friend up to" FB thing and searched for my best friend in 5th grade, Danny Schmidt (he moved to Tx for 6th grade). Up popped his fan page:

https://www.facebook.com/dannyschmidt

Turns out that, in the folk world, he's fairly well known. He's actually been compared to Dylan, Gorka, etc. We got in contact and my wife and I hosted a house concert for him. It was a blast, caught up a bit, etc.

Well, since then, I've really started to listen to his music and he's pretty freaking good. Kind of a poet who happens to play guitar. For those that may be interested:

his most popular tune:

and this one blows my mind each time I listen to it; probably the most well-written folk ballad I have heard. If you listen to any of the links, listen to this one:

finally, a fun / blues-y one:

anyway, felt like sharing. Always good to get connected with new music.

Very nice.....

We had a guy in our graduating HS class who was a pretty fair hand at a guitar, harmonica, and song writing. His song titled "Bad Day" which culminated with "your girlfriend says she's two weeks late" was a serious hoot.

He's a zoologist these days.

Me ? I can handle a tune with a Kazoo. that's about it.

If this is the same Danny Schmidt of Man of many moons he gets air time on our local progressive rock and jazz station here on Martha's Vineyard.

Hey, Loudon, Rufus and Sloan Wainright and Smither , too.
Cool.
